Big Heath Releases New Track 'Bouncy'
Nas, DJ Semtex and Rag ‘n’ Bone man championed UK rapper, BiG HEATH, continues his rise with the release of ‘Bouncy’; the first track taken from forthcoming EP set for release in March 2019.
Produced by the fast rising Barney Lister and written by Big Heath, ‘Bouncy’ was premiered by MistaJam on 1Xtra tonight.
Big Heath says: “Bouncy basically describes me, both mentally and physically. It's onomatopoeic for how I am. The message of the song is a standard Saturday night for me when I was a teenager, getting off your nut and bouncing.”
A rapper hailing not from an inner city, but rather the quiet suburbs of Cambridge, BiG HEATH is not only comfortable with being different, he embraces it, delivering rhymes that veer from the well-trodden ground of the ‘road’. His realness and sensitivity is clear to see within the introspective lyrical content, tackling vulnerability with surprising candour.
Having made waves with his debut ‘Lonely EP’ release which saw the likes of BBC 1XTtra, Radio 1, Link Up and GRM put their weight behind him, 2018 also saw BiG HEATH open the main stage at Wireless, (brought out by Semtex), perform on the Radio 1Xtra stage at Reading & Leeds Festival, ink a deal with Polydor Records, and hunker down in the studio with Show N Prove (J Hus, Stefflon Don, Giggs), Ishi (Usher, Ne-Yo, Wretch 32), Abaz (Tory Lanez, T-Pain, Gucci Maine).
Having first started rapping at the age of 10 – when he realised it helped him overcome his stutter - BiG HEATH got his first break in 2017 when he was booked for notable support slots with Nas and Freddie Gibbs. It was his live performance at Nas’ show in Liverpool that caught the attention of DJ Semtex, and by 2018 critics earmarked him as the “next one up”, praising him for showcasing a different side to the UK Rap scene.
