Getting To Know Sharni Weiss
Folk rock singer-songwriter Shani Weiss is thrilled to announce the launch of her captivating new single, "All About Life". This heartfelt track is the first single from her eagerly anticipated EP of the same name. Written after a profound conversation with her young son, Tom, where he innocently asked what life truly means. We chat with Sharni to get to know her more.
How did you get into music?
I have always been in music, I started piano at 5, songwriting guitar and singing at 13, went to a music school and continued to a Bachelors and Masters in music so the question is how do I get into anything but music. So today I teach music, perform and also host a radio show on 88fm called Indie Spotlight Melbourne where I interview Melbourne Musos.
Tell us about your latest release?
I am releasing my first single 'All About Life' from my upcoming EP on November 15th following my single launch in the Espy Basement on the 9th of November. The song was written after a conversation I had with my son Tom, who was 5 at the time and he innocently asked -'what is life?' I was trying to explain it and he was giving suggestions like having a bath and making someone laugh, which then became the chorus of the song. The verses are an example of a weeks work where we are all dealing with whatever is going on and in the all the chaos of life where the chorus is that weekend vibe where we can breathe a little and relax.
What do you want people to take away from it?
The song is about cherishing the little, simple moments in life even while going through hardship and challenging times. Remembering that life is all about meeting your friends, spending time with your loved ones, laughing, seeing new places, just living. That's something that sometimes, I can take for granted and this is a reminder to be appreciative of all I have.
What are you working on next?
This is the first of the 6 songs recorded in the EP so after the launch and release I will continue gigging with my band while working on the second single 'What's Left'
What stimulates your soul?
Life stimulates me. I'm a doing person, constantly creating projects and setting goals to achieve. As long as I am able to create, perform my music, balance my family life and keep my sanity intact, I'm happy.
