Redefining the sound of Australia’s hip-hop scene by creating his own lane, emotive melodic-grunge-trap rapper Kid Lab Rat returns with an unapologetic demeanour on his new single ‘Happy’ which we are excited to premiere here on SYS.

Set for release on tomorrow, ‘Happy’ comes coupled with a cathartic visual which encapsulates the raw emotion and story shown through Kid Lab Rat’s deep lyrical content.

This track follows on from the collection of success that Kid Lab Rat has encountered over the last 12-months with his recent single ‘Satanic Cheerleader’ being mixed by Terrence Rolle (USA) who is apart of DJ Khaled’s production team and a backup vocalist for Pharrell Williams. On top of this, Kid Lab Rat’s earlier single ‘Young Aussie Osbourne’ was also a feature track in the DJ Symphony / GZA (Wu Tang) Australian Invasion Mixtape Vol. 1, after being personally selected from DJ Symphony and GZA themselves ahead of thousands of submissions.

‘Happy’ is the first single taken from the 9-track mixtape ‘Into The Labyrinth’ which was recorded and produced by 20-year-old Daniel Baker and set for release later this year. The single along with the rest of the mixtape delves into a record of deeply personal topics, creating a melancholic theme and honesty across the project.

“I hope that somebody might hear what we have done and it could save them from some shit they’re going through. I hope to be able to inspire people the same way I was inspired by my idols when I was a kid.” – Kid Lab Rat
