Londoner new comer Charlotte Turnbull is one to look out for
An R&B songstress with incredible promise," (Clash) South London's Charlotte Turnbull is quickly establishing her presence in her city and her impact has begun to spread stateside. Premiering her most recent single with prominent American tastemaker Earmilk, Charlotte has been hard at work "developing a unique sound she could call her own."
Charlotte's early musical influences derived from her parents who spent most of their spare time listening to either the eclectic sounds of UK Garage music or the rebellious sounds of Rock. As she grew into her teens her musical tastes leaned towards that of a Rhythm and Blues sound – taking inspiration from 90’s musicians such as; Aaliyah, Left Eye and SWV. It was Charlotte’s introverted tendencies that lead her to become quite a recluse drawing to the end of her secondary school years which ultimately played in her favour as it meant that she spent the majority of her time perfecting her craft – singing and playing the guitar.
Last year, Charlotte released her debut EP "Making My Way" which received warm reviews and one of the songs "Share My Feelings " was featured on Spotify's "new music friday" playlist. With more new music in the works and a passion to forge her own creative path, Charlotte is definitely worth keeping an eye on this year!
