Getting To Know SD Hip Hop Artist Katie Ladubz
Fresh from releasing ‘She Bitch’ ft Mastero this month, Katie Ladubz is going head strong with her latest tracks on Cultz Music Media. Channelling her emotions from getting sober and her latest break up ‘She Bitch’ packs a punch so we couldn’t wait to sit down with her to find out how she got into music, her future plans and what influences her music.
Tell us about your latest release and what inspired it?
My latest release, my album “Moves to Make” was inspired off so many different things over the last year, mostly getting sober and ending a relationship. I put the heartbreak over that into the songs "Devil in my Mind" and "Moves to Make" and throughout the album I’m making a statement to myself that I’m done messing around with music and life and I’m ready to stay focused and grind to get where I’m going.
What is one of your guilty pleasures?
Currently it’s binge watching Grey’s Anatomy with my roommate
How did you first start in the music industry?
I started really late, I was always into writing but never really got the spark to get into music until the first time I went to rehab. I realized through some of the connections I made there, that I could actually turn my writing into songs. Then it just grew from there. This is when I met (labelmate) Black Hesher, and he’s been my number one supporter, inspiring me to make music my main focus.
What are you working on next?
Thinking about doing a mixtape with DevLord next, and I have some songs I’m working on with J.Andrew at the moment. Both of whom are also my labelmates on Cult Muzic Media.
If you could collaborate with anyone who would it be?
Jack Harlow, it would be really rad to collab with someone that has a big name in the industry and I’ve also listened to a lot of his interviews and think I could learn a lot from his process.
