This EP is set to catapult Hatty Keane into her own lane as her unique, real and all too raw music leaves her listeners lingering after the first beat. The singer drops into SYS to talk about her latest offering, why it’s important to do you in the music industry and why music has been a life-line for her.
You just dropped a new EP, could you tell us about it?
Nostalgia is a collection of songs that celebrate my love for old school soul and old hollywood glamour. It's got a cool mix of vibrancy and vulnerability to it too.
With uncertain times, how important is spreading your music to you?
It's been a real life-line to me, it keeps me sane - just about! Having my music out there and constantly being on that creative tip really keeps me inspired and feeling lucky to be alive each day.
You've supported some big names, what did you take away from each performance?
Just to do you. Everyone has their own magic you just have to find your own "je ne sais quoi" as they say, and let the world love you for who you are.
Are the songs from the EP from personal experiences?
It’s a mixture between real experiences and a fairytale creation of 1960s Hollywood adventures that I tell stories about.
What stimulates your soul?
A good wood fired pizza and hearing a new track I've just finished for the first time - best feeling ever.
Who would be your favourite soul musician right now?
I am embarrassed to say that I only recently discovered Candi Staton but what a voice!!!!!!
