Koi Child Announces National Australian Album Tour
Fremantle seven piece hip hop/jazz outfit Koi Child will release their debut self-titled album on Friday 18 March.
Produced by Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker the album will coincide with a national album tour in March/April.
Koi Child recorded their debut record at Mangebong, on an island south of Perth. Featuring 14 tracks filled with warm dubby chords, wandering bass lines, crunching drums and masterful lyricism, it doesn't take long for Koi Child to usher us deep into their own brand of magical hypnosis
The album features new single 1-5-9, the buttery, chill-as-you-like cut is the band’s second official single from the album. From the elongated horn-based procession that carries this introspective lyrical tale into a psych-tinged euphoria, to the rolling snare introduction, listeners are hooked into the exceptionally realised musical world of Koi Child. The track was added immediately to triple j and on A rotation on FBI. It follows on from the infectious single Black Panda, which received airplay on BBC6 radio in the UK amongst others. The accompanying video features a guest appearance from fellow WA illuminati and POND front man Nick Allbrook.
Koi Child finished off 2015 performing as special guests for Tame Impala on their Australian tour, gaining fans such as Mark Ronson (who raved about their performance on radio the following day) and were announced as a Spotify Spotlight feature artist for 2016,
