Sydney-based Korean-Australian artist YURA today announces her anticipated debut EP Eternal Tiare, coming Friday 10 November, alongside the drop of new single ‘Fake Friends’ – a fun-infused pop track exploring the complexity of human relationships.
YURA draws from a diverse range of influences – cherry picking sonic motifs and influence from contemporary R&B, indie pop and lo-fi. Her debut EP Eternal Tiare sits in an undefinable and genre-bending realm, promising listeners the perfect escape from the mundanity of the everyday. YURA’s unique voice delivers captivating stories that are both heartfelt and relatable, drawing you in with her raw emotion and undeniable charm.
Featuring mischievous production and electropop inspired sounds, today’s new EP teaser ‘Fake Friends’ is about rising above pettiness and navigating life with grace.
“I had quite a big falling out with someone I was close to, but due to circumstances I still had to see them quite regularly. I was in a very conflicted place because I still wanted to make peace with them, even though they had done wrong against me. Until I could fully figure out how I wanted to approach our friendship, I still smiled and talked to them as if nothing had happened - that went on for a while. Fake Friends was born out of this situation, and I think many can relate, even though it can manifest in different ways. I hope they can listen to this and feel some comfort to know they’re not alone in choosing peace, even when it’s uncomfortable sometimes.” – YURA
