SANTI Pays Homage to Nollywood Horror Classics in ‘Freaky’

Santi Freaky Video Shoot II.jpg

Exciting genre-bending rapper and vocalist SANTI is proud to unveil the brand new music video for ‘Freaky’ featuring Toronto-based R&B rising star Nonso Amadi and Nigerian emcee Bridge.

Shot in Dubai and Nigeria, and directed by Santi, who is also a burgeoning filmmaker, and co-directed by Jullz Bek, who has previously worked with the likes of Vogue ArabiaLouis Vuitton, and Schön Magazine, the video for ‘Freaky’ is a dark found footage visual that pays homage to its old Nollywood ancestors, while giving a nod to the unpredictability of Korean movies, as it tells the story of a girl who wants nothing but to destroy the souls of men.

Speaking about the inspiration for the ‘Freaky’ video, Santi says, “Growing up, I idolized old Nigerian horror movies, especially the ones directed by Helen Ukpabio. Just like the cult horror 80’s era of Hollywood, Nigeria had an era in the 90’s of stifling horror movies. It was through these films that our parents picked up the habits of warning us not to eat food from strangers and pick up money from the floor”.
