NYNNO’s Final R&B Slow-Jam Is A Bittersweet 'Defeat'
Melbourne-based songwriter NYNNO has released her new R&B track “Defeat”, the fifth and final song in this year’s dreamy singles series.
Her latest slow-jam takes a coy jab at needy lovers, drawing a line between loving vulnerability and emotional manipulation. NYNNO says, “Walking away from the irreconcilable differences in a relationship, even when it’s the right thing to do, can feel like cold defeat.” Premiering on The Music, “Defeat” is the fifth installment in NYNNO’s 2020 singles series.
The drip- released collection of songs, created in collaboration with co-producers HDSNJMSJR and Nightwrk, are soliloquies on themes that play out in everyday life.
The series includes: “Red Light”, “Shangri-La”, “Download” and “Classic Overloader”. Emerging as a multi-disciplinary artist, NYNNO’s work is quickly gaining attention.
Her photography work was recently featured in Vogue and Nylon magazines, and her singles-series has seen NYNNO make Music Victoria’s longlist for Best Hip Hop Artist. Picked up earlier this year for APRA AMCOS’ Mentorship for Women in Music, NYNNO is currently working alongside R&B powerhouse Milan Ring. “Defeat” may be the last in this collection of singles, but it’s clear that NYNNO is only just getting started.
