Sydney-born producer MXXWLL has today shared new single visuals for ‘LIGHT TURN GREEN’ featuring an impress line-up of collaborators including LA’s John Givez, Rae Khalil as well as NY producer Carrtoons.  The news is paired with the announcement of his debut album Sheeesh.  Available May 22, the LP is host to a huge list of artists including the honeyed vocals of Melbourne’s Kaiit, platinum-selling artist Aloe Blacc and Oakland’s Guapdad 4000.

The official video was shot in LA around the Crenshaw/ View Park Area. “We were living a block away from Crenshaw and Slauson at the time so most of the music video is filmed in the area.” Says MXXWLL, “The lines of palm trees are a pretty iconic view around there, and it felt humbling to be filming in the same area where greats like Nipsey Hussle and Battlecat came up.

The video was directed by Sergey and Danielle from Seventy Two Films and most of the shots were pre organised but my favourite part was when we basically all just cruised around and every now and again they would stop the car and say they saw a great shot. So we’d pile out and grab it.”

As a solo musician and multi-instrumentalist MXXWLL finds his inspirations in the G-Funk haze of LA, the glory years of West Coast hip-hop and more than a touch of J Dilla’s studio magic for good measure. Armed with a near-masterful skill behind the synthesiser and an ability to make your head bounce MXXWLL’s talents have found admiration in some of the greatest names in the business, from Snoop Dogg and DJ Jazzy Jeff to Ty Dolla $ign and J Cole.
