Channel Tres Delivers The Goods On 'Weedman' Single

Channel Tres delivers the goods on his new single Weedman. It’s the first track and video to be released on his own brand new label Art For Their Good and will serve to satisfy Australian audiences following the cancellation of his Australian tour and performances at Groovin the Moo.

Weedman is the closest he's come to exploring the slow-rolling, blown-out g-funk of his native Los Angeles.  Imagine the warped psychedelic explorations of George Clinton, produced by DJ Quik and you’ve got Weedman.  Like all of this Compton-born artist’s music, Weedman can be taken as just a party song - of which Channel’s proven himself a master.  “I don’t like to come off preachy to people,” he says. But it’s personal too. It's a coy examination of what it’s like to be a black man in America in a time when weed continues to be normalised and decriminalised, but the people who once sold it are still suffering legal consequences in prison.

The weedman character is the stuff of legend. He's the guy (usually a guy) who came around you and your friends (usually much later than he said he would), who became a part of your life whether you wanted him there or not. “It's basically a song detailing my life at a certain time," Channel says. Getting a hold of the weedman came with its own set of rules, etiquette and personalities. "It was hard to get weed and now there’s dispensaries everywhere.”
