Fresh from releasing his latest single ‘Another Height’, B.Fisher is an emerging artist who recently popped up in our radar. His fluidity lends to an adventurous and versatile sound that allows him to express topics, emotions and art in a curious yet commanding way. We sit down with the artist to get to know him a little bit more.
Could you tell us about your new tune?
Definitely. So, ‘Another Height’ is an uplifting song I made a couple of months ago. I remember being alone in my studio late at night when I first got the beat from inquinch. I could really feel it and I related to it immediately. Words started coming to me so organically, it flowed. I hadn’t had that feeling in a while, when you just forget about the time and the world around you. In a way, I think that feeling is connected to the song. The feeling of being your true authentic self and really doing you.
What was your intention writing it?
Creating this song went so natural that I wasn’t really aware of my intention while writing Another Height. Listening to it now I think my intention was to empower and motivate. I just want the listener to feel that they are on the right track and that they should never stop doing what makes them happy. I just hope people can access the feeling I put into the song. That’s the most important thing to me. If they are able to feel the way I felt when I created it, it’s one of the most gratifying things for me as an artist.
How did you first get into music?
As a toddler I was obsessed with rhythm. My mom would play funky music and I always danced. My grandfather was a senior teacher of organ at a conservatory and an innovator of church music. So as a kid I was listening to his minimal music compositions in big churches and I think that really inspired me. I attended a primary school where music and arts played a big role within the education. When I was around ten years old my parents gifted me a djembé and I went to a weekly percussion class. At the end of the course the teacher brought his laptop and together we produced an actual song. I found what he did so inspiring that I started my try at producing.
What stimulates your soul?
Nature. It’s all I really need to reconnect with myself and everything around me. Just being there, enjoying the silence, I love it. I really admire trees, sometimes I stand still and stare at them. They are rooted strong yet always growing to the light. Nature inspires me in many ways and I think spending a lot of time there definitely reflects in my music as well.
What do you have planned for the future?
I can’t wait to perform again, I miss real life interaction, for me it’s a beautiful energy exchange. Of course I’ll be releasing plenty of music through my startup record label, OnSoul. Thinking of the far future it might be an idea to branch out OnSoul and use my A&R skills to help shape other artists.
